Whangarei Central Library

The Project
This project involved uplifting the existing flooring and supplying and installing new flooring throughout key public areas of the library, including both the ground, Cafe and first floor. With the library remaining an active public space, the work needed to be completed in stages to minimise disruption while maintaining safe access for visitors.

Scope of Work
Our team carried out a full flooring replacement across multiple zones, including:

• Removal of existing flooring
• Preparation and levelling of subfloors
• Installation of new carpet tiles throughout public areas
• Supply and installation of LVT flooring in the café
• Staged works to ensure continuous access to facilities
• A lot of grunt work went into moving the impressive bookshelves

Working in a Live Environment
One of the key challenges of this project was working within a busy, operational library. Careful coordination ensured that areas remained accessible, safe, and functional throughout each stage of the upgrade.

The Result
The upgraded flooring has transformed the space, delivering a fresh, modern look while improving durability and comfort for daily use. The new carpeted areas provide warmth and noise reduction, while the lvt flooring in high-use zones offers a clean, hard-wearing finish.

Delivering for Our Community
